Missy's Mirage was foaled on Feb. 24, 1988 at Middletown Stables in Colts Neck. Bred by Joseph and William Stavola, Inc. and owned by Middletown Stables, Missy's Mirage showed her talent early on, winning her first two starts by a combined 23 lengths. Under the direction of Hall of Fame trainer H. Allen Jerkens, Missy's Mirage was considered one of the best fillies and mares of her era, finishing first or second in 11 of her 13 graded stakes starts. Among her victories were Grade 1 scores in Belmont Park's Shuvee and Hempstead Handicaps.
